FREIBURG, Germany – May 30, 2017 – Paragon Software Group (PSG), the cross-platform technology leader in innovative mobile device and embedded system solutions, releases a new edition of Paragon ReFS for Linux – the industry’s first third-party ReFS file system driver designed to eliminate incompatibility between Linux and Windows ReFS-formatted volumes. Previously available in read-only mode, the new edition provides full read and write access to ReFS volumes and supports Linux Kernel versions up to 4.10.x.
Resilient File System (ReFS), introduced by Microsoft Corporation with the release of Microsoft Windows Server 2012, has been integrated into the company’s server and desktop operating systems Windows 8.1, Windows 10, and Windows Server 2016. Open source users cannot access ReFS volumes on Linux systems due lack of appropriate file system driver. Paragon ReFS for Linux solves this issue, allowing full read and write access to ReFS (1.x) volumes on Linux.
Key features and benefits:
- New! Write access to ReFS (1.x) volumes;
- New! Support for Linux Kernels up to 4.10.x;
- Transparent read access to ReFS (1.x) volumes;
- Easy-to-use install and uninstall assistant scripts;
- Support for SMP kernels;
- ReFS (1.x) volumes mounted by the ’urefs’ driver can easily be shared over local networks (e.g., SAMBA/FTP and other protocols);
- Paragon ReFS for Linux driver (urefs.ko module) can be installed alongside the existing Paragon NTFS&HFS+ for Linux driver (ufsd.ko module) on the same platform.
Similar to another Paragon product for Linux users, Paragon NTFS & HFS+ for Linux, Paragon ReFS for Linux is based on the company’s proprietary Universal File System Driver (UFSD) technology, which enables any device to communicate and share files, regardless of operating system. Beyond access, the tools provide the highest data throughput speeds possible — equivalent to or exceeding native performance. Paragon’s portal for dual-boot users hosts a comprehensive line of essential tools for users of multiple devices on Android, Windows, macOS, and Linux who want to resolve incompatibility issues.
